Newspaper Wrapper: ½d deep green on buff paper locally used with 'GWELO 12 DEC 1923' postmark, very fine and scarce. On 1 October 1923 Southern Rhodesia became a self-governing colony with Responsible Government. This wrapper used during the so-called 'Interim' period which lasted from 1 October 1923 until 1 April 1924 when Southern Rhodesia issued their own stamps and stationery.
